A scan captures a surface. A useful CAD model also needs a clear definition of the part. Zagnat reviews scan data, reference dimensions and the changes you need before scoping a scan-to-CAD project.
Choose the CAD result before reconstruction begins
A surface mesh can describe wear, damage and scanning noise as well as the original shape. Decide whether the deliverable should follow the measured object or represent an intended design. Identify the holes, mounting faces and mating features that matter. A smooth-looking model alone does not establish that those features meet your requirements.

Include the deadline and explain any uncertain requirements. A complete brief helps separate design work, digital deliverables, physical production and delivery arrangements.

Zagnat has a $200 project minimum. It is not a fixed price for every job. Source quality, geometry, size, quantity, finishing and the requested deliverable affect the quote. Feasibility, scope and timing are confirmed for the actual project.

Will a scan automatically become editable CAD?
No. A mesh and a CAD model represent geometry differently. Reconstruction, feature recognition or manual modeling may be needed.
Can I request STEP files?
State STEP or another required format in the brief. The quotation should specify the actual deliverable and whether native editable features are included.
Can worn or broken parts be reconstructed?
They can be reviewed, but missing geometry needs reference measurements, drawings or an agreed design assumption.
What affects the quote?
Source quality, part complexity, critical features, revisions and the requested comparison or inspection work affect scope.
