Chocolate Mold Prototypes and Printed Master Design

Start with the shape, dimensions and the final food-contact process. Zagnat reviews chocolate-mold concepts, digital design and printed prototype/master requirements before scoping the project.

Distinguish the shape prototype from the food-contact mold

A printed master can help develop geometry without being the surface that touches food. The final mold material, production method, cleaning requirements and release behavior need their own review. Include the chocolate shape, cavity layout, lettering and desired quantity so the model is designed for the intended result.

Projects to discuss

  • Developing a custom chocolate shape from artwork or a digital model.
  • Reviewing cavity dimensions, layout and embossed details.
  • Preparing a prototype or master for a separately agreed mold-making process.

What to send with your request

  • Artwork or references, dimensions and the desired cavity arrangement.
  • Final mold process/material and whether the prototype will contact food.
  • Lettering, quantity, finish and production requirements.

Include the deadline and explain any uncertain requirements. A complete brief helps separate design work, digital deliverables, physical production and delivery arrangements.

From your brief to an agreed result

  1. Review the design and final food-contact workflow.
  2. Agree geometry, master/prototype scope and required changes.
  3. Review the model and confirm the final production route.

Zagnat has a $200 project minimum. It is not a fixed price for every job. Source quality, geometry, size, quantity, finishing and the requested deliverable affect the quote. Feasibility, scope and timing are confirmed for the actual project.

Questions about this service

Is any 3D printing material safe for chocolate molds?

No. Food-contact suitability depends on the final material and process and must be specifically established.

Can a logo be included?

Supply artwork you are permitted to use and the desired size. Fine lettering may need adaptation for the chosen process.

Will you supply the final mold?

State whether you need design files, a printed master or a finished mold. Availability and scope are confirmed before commitment.

How do I get a quote?

Send the shape, dimensions, cavity count and final production requirements. The project minimum is $200.
